Cruise Control Troubleshooting
The orange bulb (or rather the clear bulb with the orange condom) that lights the cruise control switch in my 2000 RS burned out recently. This did not affect the operation of my cruise control.
Messing around with the bulbs, I also blew out the fog lamp bulb. After putting things back together, my cruise control would no longer engage.
I installed new bulbs today, and the fog lamp one works great. The cruise control one might work, but since cruise control still doesn't engage, I can't tell.
Does anyone know how to troubleshoot cruise control problems? Thanks for your help.

Mine wasn't working and a few days later I noticed it ran lousy at lower RPM's. Turned out the vacuum hose for the cruise control wasn't on all the way. After I snugged the line hose down the cruise worked fine and the low idle was better as well.
The above will probably only help if you're also seeing poor runnning at lower rpms / idle.
The cruise unit is on the firewall on the passenger side.
That's my only suggestion beyond the typical fuse check.

the hose going to the actuator is easily knocked off by mistake-also check on the clutch pedal bracket were it contacts the clutch switch-there should be a plastic washer the size of a dime that contacts the switch.if missing which ive seen alot-the switch will not close.there will be a vacant hole were the switch contacts-

No luck. The hose seems fine, and the little white discs on the clutch and on the brake press their buttons fine.
I did an ECU reset, but things still weren't better. Maybe the control unit under the dash is dead.
Strangely, my alarm didn't go off when I reconnected the battery. The alarm system seems fine otherwise, though.

please check every fuse in both fuse box,if you no how to use a multi-meter i would be happy to e-mail you the worksheet for the input/output test for the cruise control module,it is very easy to do .this will tell you were the fault is.
just saw that you stated you reset the ecu-does this mean you have a scan tool i assume-if so please tell me what the readings for both (short term)(long term)fuel trims are.if these numbers are high on the positive side it means your lean do to a vacuum leak or other leak-possible the cruise actuator itself.
