Back in November, my CEL came on in my 2002 WRX. I reset the computer to see if it would stay out, and it did. A few months later, it came back on. I did the same thing before taking it to the dealer. I reset the computer, and it stayed out. Last week it came on again, first time since January. This time I took it to the dealer, and he said it was "hard-coded" and could not be wiped out. I tried resetting it myself, but it came right back on. He said the code came back for the Fuel Evaporator Canister. They checked all the solenoids out, and they are working fine. He said the next step is to rip out the ECU and check for a wiring problem or replace it altogether. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I'm out of warranty now, so I hate to have all this work done. The cars running fine, but I can't stand looking at the CEL. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks.

 

either get the work done, take out the bulb or just live with the light on. Thas about all you can do. If you were disconecting your battery to reset your computer that dose not clear the code from the computer all together. that just resets the light untill it happens again. The only way to clear out the code is to hook up a scanner to your computer and clear it that way.
