buying 06 WRX but...
Weird things are happening.
I am looking for the base model 06 WRX in Hawaii
First, I got a quote of 25500. The guy said he had ONE left at the docks, and that the price is only good for that ONE WRX. If not, I have to pay $4990 extra for the next batch of WRX coming in. 30K for wrx? no thanks. I walked out and went to the next dealer.
The next one was undergoing some management restructuring, and did not have any new WRX on hand except for one TR that had like 100 miles on it. They told me they were not sure when the next batch would come in. I walked to the next dealer
The next dealer DID NOT KNOW that a base line WRX existed (same parent company as first dealer). They only thought that it came in TR or Limited. After some schooling from me, they assumed that the base model is rare and Hawaii can't get those(which is total BS). Amazed to find those sales people did not know what they were selling. They did tell me that the 4990 markup was BS.
WTF is going on? So the only option is the 25500 deal. I might be able to get it down to 25000, but what does everyone else think? Any baseline 06 wrx owners in Hawaii?
Thanks

Wow...... In my option, If your going to spend $25,000 on a new 06 WRX......have you consider getting a used 04-05 STI for the same price??

Then again, there is the TR, which is supposedly more COMMON than the base trim. Let's see, $1000 less for junkier seats, no side skirts, no fogs... can someone convince me to get a TR? I do intend to wrench the car later anyway.
Your experience sounds extremely similar to my own when i was going to buy a new WRX. The salespeople i spoke to at every dealership insisted that i buy a WRX for 30k and a STi for 38k. I'm sure you'll be able to get a decent price, but it'll just take some talking. Good luck to you and your search.

little update:
The guy from the third dealer called me back today. He said he talked to Subaru and said that the base line trim is out of production, and makes only the TR and limited. How's that for some BS? He probably just wants to get rid of those TRs in the lot first. lol

total bull****
hahahahah!!! your dealerships suck. how about this. buy a wrx at invoice or below here in so cal, ship it to the islands (2000 USD) and you will still save money...or arrange with the dealership here in so cal to take delivery in the islands. i got my wrx wagon for less than invoice. it is the base with homelink mirror, floor mats, alarm thingy, rear cargo tray, and bumper protector. finding one with NO options is basically impossible unless you get a TR. if you get a TR, i will trade you my WRX seats, i'd rather have the TR seat.
