Anyone having problem starting car?
I bought my WRX in August so it's pretty much still brand new. I noticed that it takes more cranks to start the WRX engine than it did on the toyotas I drove before. Once in a while the car doesn't even start (especially after sitting outside for a whole day) and I have to turn the key to the "ignition ON" position to start the fuel pump before I can successfully start the engine. Do you guys have that problem? Is it because the battery in WRX is weak?

ummm... rule #1: starter needs electricity to work.
if you listen to the radio (with aftermarket amps) alot with the engine, this is a sign...
i wished subaru would stick a voltmeter in the dash...

I bought my '05 WRX in October of last year and I've notice on occasion that it takes a second crank to start the car. I'm thinking it's the crap battery in the Subaru's. I didn't have this problem on my MY00 RS2.5.
Thinking about it, they did relocate the fuel filter and pump next to the tank. Might be the problem.

Will this weak battery cause problems with AccessPort installation? I just read this forum on NASIOC about this guy failing the ECU reflash due to a weak battery and now I am getting a lil scared.

I think this is a fuel pressure issue. With my car (completely stock) it always starts as long as I leave the ignition key on (run position) for a couple of seconds before trying to crank the engine.
If you listen, you will hear the pump run for a moment and then shut off. At this point it always starts. If I don't do this, then it can take several seconds of cranking for the engine to fire.

This is a wrx thing. First of all I have an upgraded fuel pump, a new starter, and I need a new battery. I have a sub, amp, and head unit.
So I have some drainage on my system, but my starter did die at 35,000 miles. I am going to buy a new oddesy battery before winter is out I am sure.
Just keep refilling your battery with water, until you get a new one, DO NOT BUY OPTIMA BATTERYS they are trash.
