hey everyone, to all with 98 head gasket problems.........at about what mileage did it go at ? just curious, im @ about 75,000 mile now, keeping fingers crossed. later

i just realized i posted this in the wrong forum,sorry..........do the 00's also have head gasket troubles like the 98's ??

 

from what I have seen alot of the 2.5's do. my blew at 58k on my 2000 and my friend who had an sti, he really ragged it though had blown his in 10k. My mom has a 98 2.5 in her wagon and has had no problems. Guess it depends how you run it. I got a notice from subaru that if I took it to a dealer they would put some special stuff in my coolant and it extended the warranty on the headgaskets to 100k.

 

anything i could do through a dealer to get this fixed? ....i think it has been noted as a defect.(thought i remember reading that somewhere) it has not been fixed on my car by the previous owner ,but i also have no warranty on it.

 

I really have no idea, I got a letter in the mail I guess because I got it used from a subaru dealer and it had the factory warranty. I would call the closest dealer and see what they say. If nothing else I would pay to have the additive put in your car, if they will extend the warranty free of charge on a $1000 dollar job it has to help.
