If you have your owners manual there is a service schedule in the manual package, otherwise go to the Subaru website and look for it there.

I would flush all your fluids but I'm also excessively **** about maintenence stuff. Have your rotors serviced and check your pads. How's you clutch feeling? Might want to think about buying one just to have around in case.

WRX 30K maintenence:

Change/replace Transmission Fluid - 75w90
Change/replace Rear Differential Fluid - 75w90
Change/replace Air Filter
Change/replace Fuel Filter
Change/replace Brake Fluid
Change/replace Engine Coolant (use OEM fluid)
Change/replace Oil
Change/replace Oil Filter

I think thats all, spark plugs are at 60K. I changed mine at 45K and I felt a difference.

The Inspection and Maintenance Services Schedule for my '03 WRX does not specify when to replace transmission/diff. (front & rear) lubricants (gear oil) but I do it every 30K.

I've gone to two Subaru dealership parts departments who told me they don't even stock the OEM engine coolant and to just use the aftermarket (like Prestone yellow-green stuff.) My Owner's Manual says to use the OEM fluid "or an equivalent: a mixture of 50% soft water and 50% ethylene glycol basis coolant." That's what the Prestone is. How is the OEM fluid different or better?

The 2.0L engine is very picky, it has to be free of silicates and something else (cant remember, I will post back tommarrow). I believe it says in the manual. Dexcool and Prestone (both I think) have ingredients that arent supposed to go in the wrx motor. Subaru OEM coolant is expensive! Its like $20 or $30 bucks. NASIOC has lots of threads on it, plus you are supposed to use subaru conditioner with the coolant.

The coolant is supposed to be silicate- and phosphate- free. Regular Prestone is NG, and Dexcool is a no-no as well. The new Prestone "universal/all-makes&models" coolant is ok, as is Peak Global.

Thanks Mulder. I just had 60K maintenance done to the WRX last week. The coolant was changed out and what's in there now is a darker green than the older Prestone yellow-green stuff. Is the new "universal" Prestone a darker green color?

I think I'll do what's on this list. I did everything so far, except tranny and diff fluid and brake fluid and coolant.

Should I just go ahead and change out the spark plugs too?

What they wrote up there and I will agree with the new Prestone coolant that is good for all makes/models...it's good.

At 30K you could also clean your engine bay and check under your car for any leaks especially the CV boots and axles.

No, it's actually a light green. I just did a fill with it and it looks almost clear in the recovery tank.

Thit. Guess I'll have to stop at the shop this afternoon and ask them what's in the radiator. Thanks.
