Castrol Oil and gear oil?
what you guys think of it?
I wanted to try all syn stuff from castrol and there is a place nearby me that has it all. How does this compare to mobile 1 and royal purple and stuff. And also should I get my 30k service at the dealer or can i do it at jiffy lube or something.

I don't know about the Castrol oil myself. A little while back there was a thread where somebody said that Castrol ATx or somwething like that was used as the OEM gear oil. I looked for the sutff but could never find it. I instead went with Motul in the Gear box.

As for engine oil I've been using Mobil 1 syn, I've had no complaints with it, do a search and you should get more than enough info to read.

As for the 30K service, I did that myself, but I would suggest going to the dealer to get it done, think they charge like ~$300. Check your manual, but a lot of ppl on here have said that the major service is at 60k. At 30k it's change the oil, check the belts, flush the radiator fluid and I forgot what else I did, jsut check the owners manual.

Oh if ya need any help I'm in San Diego right now till June on buisness and I wouldn't mind helping out, don't know how much help I'll be but I got the Tech manuals.

Err I think the 30K is a bit more than $300. I think mine was around $500. Even its most recent 45K was $360.

I usually get the 7500, 15K 30K etc done at the dealer and do intermediate oil changes myself. I figure it might help with any warranty issues to show a dealer history. Now its out of the complete coverage I might do things differently.

 

I asked SOA about the service fees. They said that the dealers list a bunch of extra stuff that they do over what the service schedule requires. SOA said it is probably useful stuff, but that you could request the minimum work to complete the service rather than all the extra crap.
