Unhappy 2006 2.5i tranny trouble allready

My car is a 2006 2.5i 2800 kms/2000miles.
Took my car in today to get a noise checked out. The noice is only apparent around 4000-4400 rpms. It is a vibration noise coming from the shifter --quite annoying and pronounced. They tightened all the links still there. Now they want me to bring it back as they think it is the rear tranny end. The guys are being real nice about the issue.

For me it is kind of upsetting first subaru I've owned.
Not that I want to compare but I've had 8 hondas not one warranty problem.

Does anybody else have this problem?

Sometimes a part fails. I wouldn't be too stressed about it.

problem sounds like no biggy compared to the 02 WRX tranny issues that arose.

02 wrx tranny's were like jelly after about 60k miles of normal driving, or about 5 launches.

I used to own a honda...and everytime I mention it, I get flamed on about 3 pages worth...might wanna keep that under wraps...

Are you at 4000-4500 rpm, when you hear the noise?

I have an 06 OBS 5MT and my shifter rattles at those rpm's. To my ears, it sounds like loose coins, but my friend described the sound just as you had.

ya... I think so. I'm usually going pretty fast in 4th or 5th when it happens.

I almost wonder if it's from the wind though?
