Had a couple of cold days here on east coast and had to jump start the rex. on third day called dealer , they said bring it down and we will check it. I went right down and when i got their they said i had to leave the car all day so they could charge the battery.. pissed off i left on bought a new battery put it in and no more problems on cold mornings. Any one think I can get subaru to pick up the tab for the battery?
Probably not, since you refused their service and installed a non-factory part. The most you would get would be a new OEM battery if you are still under the 3/36 warranty.
It's well known that the stock batteries are weak to begin with and do poorly in extreme cold weather. This is why I replaced mine with an Optima over a year and a half ago, before it had a chance to die on its own.
