2000 2.5 RS rearend noise
Ok, my 2000 2.5 started makin a ratteling from what sounded like the area of the back seat passenger side pannel.
Well, on my way up to Tennessee, the noise was replaced by what I can only describe as a Jet engine.
Anything above about 5 mph it does this and at 65-70 it literally sounds like a turbojet. Its comin from the rear of the car.
Any ideas?

A roar that increases with speed, and more importantly, can be made louder by swerving and loading that corner, is usually the wheel bearing.
This is addressed in End Wrench magazine, it's a case of "all Imprezas need the upgraded rear wheel bearings". I did mine (both sides) @ 90k. Now I hear my worn down Toyo's howlin'.

Yeah, it gets louder going in a right turn. I'm takin my 2.5 to the shop tomorrow to get new tires (Kumo ECSTA 711), a full alignment/balance and replacement of the offending bearing(s) P'roally get em to do the fronts and rears.
