120k maintenence mess

Hi:
New to this forum. I decided to get the timing belt changed at a local Subaru dealer, and got a quote for the timing belt, and a whole lot more!
The total bill is $2267 and a couple of quarters. Does this seem reasonable for the following:
Coolant- 22.34
coolant conditionaer- 1.64
Battery- 89.95
Terminal- 14.75
Adjsuter assembly (whats this??) - 169.51
Alternater belt -15.28
AC belt- 14.10
oil seal -18.92 (2 of them total)
o-ring- 4.81
water pump- 112.04
h20 pump gasket- 3.10
thermostat -17.64
thermostat gasket -4.05
hose- 9.12
hose- 12.45
hose - 6.69
hose - 9.12
radiator hose- 15.73
radiator hose - 12.76
hose - 22.46
something else for - 20.80

labor for all that 667.50.

and on top of that, the cam belt service of 399.95

I'm sure this has been covered on other threads so if you don't feel like retyping your responses can you at least post a link to them?

Realistically I can change hoses/coolant/spark plugs, etc. Cam belts and gasket replacement is beyond my mechanical abilities and facilities (working on the the street with a good set of hand/bike shop tools).
So- does this estimate seem fair and reasonable? would going to a non dealer save me a chunk of cash? Does anyone have recommendations for a shop in Oakland or Hayward/ untion city??
thanks for your time.
Tom

I'd say avoid the dealer on most of that. Any mechanic can do the majority of that work and you would save a decent amount of money. Do you need all of this done or is this just what the dealer recommends? My guess is that a few of those things aren't even in need of fixin'. I can't say for sure without seeing the car, but I'd take it somewhere else and have it checked out.

Does anyone have recommendations for a shop in Oakland or Hayward/Union City?
Try the Vendor forums here on i-Club, specifically GB Motorsports, MPJ Performance, and Gruppe-S Motorsports. All of them are in the vicinity of the Hayward/Fremont area and can give you quotes if you post a request in their respective forums or give them a call during business hours. They may send the quote by Private Message so be sure to check your PMs if you post in their forums.

LIC Motorsports lists their prices for services, this should give you a good baseline of what to expect from the other independent mechanics. I just had my 60k service done at AutoHeadquarters and their price is very similar to LIC's.
