I CANT DECIDE... AND ive been receiving the exact same input over and over.. but i still come to the conclusion of which to get. 05 lacks the bigger engine.. but it does LOOK ALOT BETTER.. well thats what i think... and is cheaper. but the 06 has this wierd loook .. like chewing on a old piece of bubble gum.. i dunno.. bigger engine... better this and that.. BUT THE look!!! i mean.. if we didnt buy cars for looks.. then wed just drive around with an Engine and a seat on top... soo i dunno.. i need something thatll change my mind into one direction.. so i can make a final decision... HELPP!! HELPP!!! -- i try to imagine myself bearing with the look of.. 06.. every time i see the sti.. im like OKAY thats finee.. but then agian.. im not gettin an sti.. and WRX even though IT is the exact same... look.. except for the fog lights... it has a wierd look.. that makes me not want it.. <<<< if that made any sense to anybody at all... =l... i dunno. DOES ANYBODY WHO OWN A 05 feeel put behind by the 06's 2.5l??? would anybody trade their 05 for a new 06 if given the chance??!?.. ahhhhhhhhhhh i dont know what to do...

I say keep looking, scratch that. Keep staring at the 06 pics and you will soon learn to love the look only a mother/father can love.

The upgraded parts is worth the (ugly)look and you won't regret.
I first hated the look of the 06 also but after much staring and reading about the potential of the 06, the look will grow on you.
If you really unhappy about the look wait for the 08 and see how they look.

 

either way you can't go wrong. The 05 is a good solid car. Performance wise the 06 has it beat as you already know with the 2.5 and the brakes.

If you aren't planning on modding the 06 the only real noticable difference is the initial torque, otherwise they (stock for stock) are almost the same feeling wide.

You can always upgrade the 05's brakes to meet or exceed the 06's OEM set up.

Those are pictures of downsti's car. I know its an STI, but you can make any 06 look like that. Buy the 06, trade trunks, buy 04 bbs, get lip and tint and drop.

 

04 STi for the same money as an 06 WRX?

 

Depending on the mileage/condition and where your location
is a 04 STI could cost more than a 06 WRX.Here in PA at most
places you will pay top dollar for a STI but,it's well worth it.

if you're going to mod it, i say get the 06. it's a better starting platform than the 05 engine-wise. dp, catback, and a tune and you've got a very stout street car.

personally the 06 look has grown on me. i wasn't a huge fan at first but i wouldn't mind driving one now, i think they look pretty cool.

 

Well if it's looks you want, then 05 all the way.

definately go for a used 04-5 sti!!! so many more features: adjustable hid's, DCCD, all the power you will need, 6-speed, OEM reliability without having to worry about busting up your wrx after doing all your mods, etc etc etc.
just go test drive an STI and you will never look back
