Exclamation 05 WRX auto for under 26k OTD too much to ask?

I am going to be getting an 05' WRX with auto trans very soon and was wondering if it would be too much to ask if I wanted it for 26k out the door? Dealer is willing to do invoice, which is $24,485 with destination charges. That comes to about $26.5k after t&l. Do you think having the cash up front will help persuade them to give it to me for under 26k? I mean, it's a guaranteed profit up front and they can use the lot space for another car.

Thanks up front for all the suggestions.

Well, how far under $26k are you looking to get? Do you just want $25,999 or like $25,000? You're in a tougher position because that auto trans (why?) is costing you $1000. If you're just going for $25,999, I guess you could ask but it's only $500

I want auto because I'm gonna be moving up to SF bay area soon and from my times in the area, stick is a PITA to drive around those roads. What kind of prices were you guys able to get for an 05 OTD?

Back in '03 I paid $23,200 for mine, but it's 5spd. Only option was wing.

Trying to go up a hill with the turbo lag of the WRX auto sucks far more than trying to go up a hill with the manual.

Trust me, you'll love to have a stick shift to zip around town. I used to own a 5spd and used to live in SF. I now drive a 4eat and I hate it EVERYTIME I am there in the city because of the 4eat. turbo lack is not even an issue, it's the 'auto lack' that kills. The tranny doesn't react until .5 sec to a sec after you step on it. Hills? not a problem, I didn't know how to drive a stick when I got the car and I was driving up Sacramento Street near Chinatown (pretty darn steep) in TRAFFIC a week after. Plus, there is always the ebrake, although I never used it.

as far as price, I always think if you are getting it at invoice, it's good. As in options at invoice prices too! Good luck!

Maybe I'll consider the 5spd BUT I'm hearing of peopel who got theirs for what seems like thousands below invoice. Is this only due to the factory rebates? Do you know if there will be any before sept? I mean, you hear about people getting theirs with a premium package and other options for only a couple hundred above invoice, and i'm paying invoice for no options. It makes it seem like I'm not getting as good a deal as I possibly can. but then I guess you have to factor in the fact that the 05's have been out for a month.

are you comfortable with paying 26.5k out the door? if so, go for it. if not, try and negotiate for less. the hard part about asking for pricing on-line is that you're always going to find people that paid less, and you're always going to find people that paid more.

i paid about 24.5k for mine back in late '02 for an '03 automatic wrx, but that didn't include taxes and license.

also, automatic wrx's aren't as bad as some of these people are making them out to be.

26.5K is definitely a reasonable price for out the door. but haggle with them none the less and see if they will throw in a few extras for that 26.5K you'd be paying like a free paint seal with carpet treament?

I got my 05 wrx for 26,500 OTD. It is a five speed, spoiler, armrest extension, and STi short shifter. The salesman sold it for 300 over invoice. That was the best price he could do for a 2005 model. It thought it was a pretty good price.
