....I like to check my oil on a weekly bases....I just had an oil change at 6400 miles (at dealer).....I noticed at 6800 miles that my oil-stick was bone dry, only about one milimeter at the end showed oil...I went to the dealer and told him about it...of course he said, that this is impossible...anyway, he checked it out and kinda "freaked"....immediately suggesting they would do another oil-change and seal everything up...meaning I am not even allowed to check the oil-stick...he said I should come back after 1000 miles...so they can see what is going on. Now I am driving a car and I have no idea how much oil it has until I go back to the dealer or worse have a breakdown on the freeway...
Anyone else had similar problems ? What was the deal and how was it re-solved.
A mechanic at the dealer I know said that they might give me a new engine should it look bad once I come back again...
What r your thoughts !!!
thanks Siyah

make sure your plug is on tight, check the filter and plug for leaks, although to lose all that oil you would probably see a puddle in your driveway or smoke when you shift
take off your intercooler and see if there alot of oil in there, if there is.. it means theres too much pressure in your motor cuasing the oil vapor to go out the pcv valve and into your intercooler/turbo etc
thats what i thihk ,granted this doesnt tell you the problem, but it can decipher wether its a loose plug/filter or something more serious

I always check the oil on a weekly bases....and after the oil change i did check the oil about 3 days later and it all looked good. That's the reason I am worried and don't think a lose plug could be the reason...
Well we will see what's gonna happen ..
Thx again
Siyah

the dealer is performing a oil consumption test-we seal the cap and drain plug so the test will be valid and not tampered with-sounds like the last oil change was not filled to the correct level-is there blue smoke coming from the exhaust.also all engines consume oil-it is burned in the cylinder as the pistons are oiled.all car makers have a spec on how much oil per 1000 miles should be consumed.evn though you shouldnt have to-also check level urself after a oil change
