yakima rack
so..i have a 2010 impreza and i want to get a yakima rack but there are two different options that i can go with, i want the lowest of the two. There is the "Q tower" option and the "control tower" option. The Q towers have to have q clips to fit and the control towers have the "landing pads" to fit. does anybody know which one would be less tall and closer to the roof of the car? thanks.
They are roughly the same height on most vehicles I've seen. If you've got a yakima dealer around you (dealer finder) they may be able to help you see more of them.
The Control Towers look like the better solution, though, if you have them as an option. The Landing Pads attach directly to factory tracks or mount points. My car doesn't have those, so I'm stuck with the Q-Towers which attach under the windows of my car. The Q-Towers work pretty well, but a direct attachment to a factory mount point would be better.

Cool, looks like ill probably go with the control towers then. and probably cut the crossbars to 46" and get a 44" fairing. i just have to save the cash. thanks for your help.
might be a little late but I went with the q-tower modified setup on my 09 wrx. I got a deal on the towers and crossbars so I just had to buy the q7 clips and cut/bend them to mount them to the factory mount points on the roof. I like the way they look this way but definitely takes longer to take off/put on the rack this way than with the control towers.
as far as your question, not sure which sits lower but I can measure the height from my roof to the crossbar if you want.
