WRX/STi miles-per-tankful thread (GUESStimates only, not calculated gas mileage)
I just recently acquired a 2003 WRX. It's stock and I plan on leaving it stock til the warranty is up.
I was just wondering, how are ya'll's cars on gas mileage per tank? I got just over 200 miles on one tank. Is that normal or is that below what it should be?

I have an '03 WRX sedan.
In mostly freeway commuting, 65-80 MPH , I get 26-28 mpg. I fill up at just a little under the 1/4 tank mark, then I have anywhere from 260 to 315 miles on the tank.
On long freeway trips on flat terrain and with the cruise control set anywhere from 64-72 MPH, I can get up to 30 MPG.
I got 240 miles on one tank that I burned off in a particularly aggressive manner.
All specs here are with no carried passengers or significant cargo.

I forgot to add in my previous post that tire inflation pressure contributes a lot to MPG. With my stock tires in the 20 PSI range I get a mushy ride and lousy MPG. Right now I'm running 35 PSI on the backs and 37-38 PSI on the fronts, and getting even tire wear.

And I know it can't be the terrain I drive on because I live in Florida and it's as flat as a flounder.

Give the WRX a little more time to break in. The engine is tight and will loosen up after you break it in. I wouldn't expect to get realistic MPG values until you get 1,000-1,500 miles on it. It's a nice car, relax!

I usually gas up at the 1/4 left mark, and I'm usually about 165 to 185 miles.
