WRX Owners: Would you buy Again?
Whats up all,
I come from a sentra board as I own a '02 se-r spec v. I am getting rid of the thing for it has been giving me nothing but problems and I'm concerned about future costs with it.
I have been seriously considering the wrx and rsx. I'm looking for refinement and power. The rsx seems to be more refined as the wrx is more powerful and with awd safer in the winters. I read a lot about the tranny though...and I have a friend that is going in for a 2nd fix on the tranny.
My question is would you buy the wrx again given the oppertunity? I asked this of myself about my car and the answer was no. I am leaning towards the wrx right now so I would appriciate any opinions on this...or any other suggestions for refined powerful cars under 20. I'm looking primarily at the '02 wrxs.

No ... Its still the same damn 227hp motor, tall ratio 5spd tranny, and 16 in RE92 tires after 3 years. So why bother?
I have to admit, I don't understand those people that 'upgrade' from 02 to 04 wrx. Sti I can understand, but wrx? How much money you willing to lose for some new headlights?
If I lose this car for some reason, and I only have the budget for 25k car, then sure, I'll buy the WRX again. But I'd rather spend more for the STi.

If this helps, I would buy the WRX again in half a heart beat. I know my cars, and the WRX is the fastest, best handling, and one of the most practical/reliable cars out there. The trannys are fine if your stock, but as you add power you should be a little cautious. I wouldn't have any more than 250 to 275 WHEEL hp. Anyway, the RSX is still a nice car and has a overall better fit and finish, but I could never live with myself if I didn't get the WRX. My father owns an M5, and he claims that he likes driving my car more than his, but I think that is an overstatement. GET THE WRX!!!
Plain and simple get the WRX. Fairly cheap with great power, handling, and most of all looks. If ya like the 04's save up and buy the STI but if not go for the 03 if you like it. Good luck.

I wrecked my '03 a few months ago - it wasn't totaled, but I was thinking it may be.
Had it been totaled, I would have purchased an '04 that weekend.
So yes.

in a second. the ONLY car that can beat the wrx at its price range is the srt-4 (which is a beast). as has been said, if you plan to mod extensively AND you tend to sit on the clutch and like to launch, then do expect tranny problems. otherwise, the wrx is a no brainer.
if you do value finish/comfort highly, then you can't go wrong with an rsx-s, or maybe even a mazda 6s.

If I had to do it all over again, yes I would get the wrx. I wouldn't buy two or upgrade to an '04 though because I love the bug eyes more and having two is just insane. It's probably one of the most fun cars out there for the price.

I would definitely get another one, but I would probably go with silver as the blue is a little blinging and a lot of other car companies are copying it.
For my needs, there is no other car on the market that has the blend of value, functionality and fun that the WRX wagon has. In addition, my dealer has treated me MORE than fair. If I were to encounter problems with the transmission that were not caused by me driving like a jack ***, I have no doubt my problems would be covered under warranty. If I had a negative dealer experience, I would strongly consider paying extra for Audi quattro or an awd Volvo.

Yes I would buy another WRX again.. I went from the WRX to the STI.. Subaru's are my favorite cars( , followed by Toyota and Honda. If Subaru does not come out with a mini van soon I will have to buy a Toyota.
As for the WRX we have had 3 of them in the family. Great cars, no problems.

...I might consider the Scion xB simply because it's small but can carry loads of stuff.
At this stage, I have no intention to sell the WRX (plan to get a 2.2 engine when it's time to rebuild). So a 2nd car would be something more stylish, possibly a non-turbo car.
If I were continue to be able to afford one car, however, I may choose LanEvo over the WRX and the STi, simply because it's more of a road car and that I don't rally much.
I think you'll really like the WRX. Get one if you can afford one.
