WRX Culture
Yesterday I was headed out and driving on the back roads of Connecticut.... A sonic Rex was coming towards me and flashed his lights so I gave mine a flash back and we waved as we passed each other.
I thought, "Wow, you don't see that often," and it reflects well on WRX owners. It's like a small-knit group of respected owners....
Like we were both thinking, "Yup. They understand what it's all about..."

Yep!
I love it when i get some love from subie owners, but it's getting less and less
like 1 in every 5 cars may wave back now... used to be EVERY RS you'd see!

You are right about that I have noticed here in hawaii sinced i've had my WRX everyone I pass or pull up next to with a WRX seem to say wassup. What i love even more is that i dont get revved on by other WRX's its like we do have a mutual respect for each other and its not about competition. When I drive my integra it seems like i get revved on all the time.

I agree. There's a long-running "Spotted" thread on the New England forum of www.NASIOC.com where people post sightings. I leave the "Spotted" print-outs on windshields if I come across any in parking lots.

All the WRX owners say hi to each other around here.
It's very fun
I've noticed that Imprezas tend to park near each other... my theory on that is that all the impreza owners care about their cars and don't want dings in the doors
I think it's awesome!

There was a new WRX in the mall yesterday... you know how dealers put cars in the mall sometimes to advertize? Anyway, this rex was loaded, and had a sticker price of 24~26k after a discount on the sticker. Some old guy went by and exclaimed "26 thou for THIS little thing!!" Like he expected it to be 12 thou like some kind of civic or something. I felt like saying "if you cant appreciate it, you shouldnt buy it."

i know what you mean
joe mamma where in ct do you live? I was at staples in torrington and i spotted a wrb sedan and i said if i come out ill see who it is and chat. THe car was still there so i pulled up to his door and started chatting about our cars and then what comes driving by us in the parking lot was another wrx silver sedan with two girls in it. They waved and we waved back. Me and the other guy laughed and thought it was cool. from time to time i will spot either the guy i met around town or other subies and they will wave or flash. I know what you guys mean if i bought another car i dont believe i would get the props from other drivers of the same make that subie owners give. I agree its kind of cool our own special society. Like the new advertisements with lance armstrong "driven by whats inside".

the first day i got my wrx, i was driving down rt6 in bristol, ct and a fellow black rex flashed me and drove by and we exchanged thumbs up as we drove by each other. gotta say that was the coolest thing, i never see that. but the other day a blue rs pulled up to me and it was a girl driving it so i gave her the thumbs up and the lil head nod and she looked at me if i was on crack lol
