Has anybody else have chips in the windshield. I have 16,000 miles on my 2002 WRX and I have got three chips and a big crack from the bottom center. Just wondering if it's just my car? Love my car. Hate the quality of the paint and windshield.

I have a fair amount of chips. I got one by a truck and not 5 min later another one by another truck
I've had a few Scoobies and I find that their windscreens scratch easly too. It's not just you.

I had couple small chips and a single big chip in my windshield 3 weeks after I got it that I had repaired ($0 deductible on glass, but I'd rather not have to have it replaced yet). That resin repair process with the UV lamp is pretty cool, but it won't work if it's already turned into a big crack. Car glass is only made by a few big companies, so it's not really a Subaru problem, and mine has been no worse than other cars I've owned despite my current 45-minute highway commute. What you should really complain about is the switch from 1/4" glass to 3/16". Amazing how many more windshields glass companies can sell after they did that.

While we're on the topic of windsheilds, what are the chances we'll ever see polarized ones in our lifetime? Seems like it'd make sense, especially for night driving to cut down on glare from oncoming traffic.

I have a brand new 2003 Subaru Legacy, which I purchased a month ago. I only have 2000 miles on my car and it already has a few chips. Thank god they are not cracked!!!! My Cavi has 86,000 and has only 2 cracks!!!!!!!!

Windshields are relatively cheap and insurance may pay for some of it if the damage was caused by road debris or things flying off of a truck.
Many companies will come out to you and install the windshield.
It's worth the money in my view. I can't stand scratched/etched windshields.
I change the windshield at around 50k. Even the windshild wiper use causes light scratches that can cause odd vision when driving at night and the scratches cause an odd glare.
There is really good replacement glass out there, just do a little research.
