2006 WRC game for the PS2 (for everything that I can find out this is only released in the European market.....)

Because the first (and only) official WRC game didn't sell well. Future versions aren't expected to sell well, so they don't even bring it over anymore.

 

Will the European games work with the US PS2?

I've never seen that before. Those graphics are incredible. FWIW, Gran Turismo needs to have those "in car views" also in order to really be a top-notch game.
