very old story, but here are the cliffnotes
i-club was started by Alex a long time ago. Nick comes on and helps Alex with the site. Nick gets pissy over a few things and takes the forum and userbase since he was running the site from his servers.
Nick sends out an email to everyone that i-club was changing the URL to nasioc.com and to stick around
Alex starts i-Club over again in November 2002.
I am sure I left out a **** ton of stuff, but thats the gist of it.

I like the people here better. I buy from the vendors here. Technical stuff, You can ask here but they probably have the answer posted there already. Chances are some one here will know the answer

i joined here right after the split, but for some reason always found myself back on nasioc, now i am really kinda tired of it, since no one likes to HELP other anymore on there, so i will just start posting on i-club again
NASIOC was the first forum/ place I looked for info on my WRX, when I asked for help I got treated like a dumb***. I didn't know squat about tuning cars. Had plenty of friends who tuned but not a single one tuned or even owned a Subaru. So, I later found I-Club, and read stuff on the forums, I noticed a big differece on I-Club. The people here actually HELP each other out. It is a COMMUNITY like they said in the above quotes. I've recently just joined I-Club and enjoy it here. I went to my first meet thanks to I-Club this weekend. Had a great time and met awesome people! I don't hate Nasioc, they just left me with a bad impression of their so called community. Snobbish know-it-alls is how I felt about them. Everyone that responded to my question bashed me like an idiot. I even started the post telling them I know nothing about tuning and wanted some info.
