whos got some R-12 freon?

I need to charge my AC system and is looking for a deal on freon. My AC doesn't work because I think I'm low on freon. The light turns on when I press the button but the clutch won't spin. Any ideas?

new gas for a/c is r134. And if I remember correctly, Its illegal to handle freon if your not certified/licensed. But im sure that wont stop alot of people. Have you checked around your a/c lines to see if you have a leak? More then likely you have a bad/old o-ring that just gave away.

I've checked and I don't see signs of leaks. And I forgot it is r-134a Lol . I was trying to pull the fuse but can't get it off. If it was leaking where would it leak from? The Low side?

Most of what i've seen is it leaks from the o-rings where the lines go into the compressor or the condensor. Also sometimes it leaks from the lines where it goes from a metal pipe to rubber line where the crimp is at. It should look like a greenish color on it but if its been leaking for a while then it will be very dark with alot of dirt built up onto it and with an oily feeling.

find the leak before u charge. believe me. freon aint cheap and its a PITA in terms of time and what not. dont forget ur dryer bag! completely useless to open system to replace o rings or what not and to not cahnge the bag. i charged my system 4 times before being dandy for.....a few months. lOL. luckily the freon was free. but still. not worth doing it more than once
