What's wrong with my engine?
I just got a 96' impreser outback. I got a good deal, and it had only 60k on it. It's green and grey, has alloys, cruise, no non-functioning hood scoop, nice custom stereo, and I love it. But I recently read in the Consumer Reports used car guide that my year in particular has an engine problem, but it doesn't say what it is.
Could it have something to do with the spark plug shooting out and denting my hood, stripping the threads in the cylinder head, neccessitating a hela(sp?) coil?

Helicoils are the result of a gonzo mechanic overtorquing the plug. As far as Consumer Reports, are you going off a particular menttion, or just the rating in the spreadsheet thing? AFAIK there are no particular problems, unless it has the same MAF that the 98 EJ25s did.

That is why I got the dealership to fix everything including unrelated stuff for free. And I got it off the spreadsheet thing, all red circles except for the engine. One more thing, I know much less about cars than anyone here I think. What is a EJ25?

EJ25 = Subaru's 2.5L engine. EJ is the model series, applies to basically all of Subaru's 4-cylinder boxer engines since the early 90's.
And dont worry about not knowing anything, I started off about 3 years ago on NASIOC.com (along with here at I-club when it started up last year) and know quite a bit now
