What Is A Snorkus?

I've been reading a lot of these forum postings lately and many of you are talking about the snorkus. What exactly is a snorkus? How can it be removed? And what benefits does it have for the engine? Thanks guys.
The snorkus is the slide shaped tubing that is related to the intake system. It is the Slide shaped peice that is mounted on the left side under the hood (Right above the Radiator ). It conects to a small elbow peice that routes itself around the inside of your front fender then to your filter box. You dont really need it, but removing it dosent really make any difference. Its job (Supposidly) is to route air from the front of the car (near the hood area) to the Intake system. Dosent really work though.

Yes. And I must add...you can hear your turbo spool just a bit louder and there have been claims that it allows your turbo to spool just a bit earlier.
