If the WRX is like owning a neon, then a 88 Daytona is like owning a rusty Pinto with 537,000 miles on it.

if its the daytina iroc RT, then the wrx gets smacked from a roll.
224hp stock.
dohc, head designed by lotus.
very lo 14's stock, and remeber thats fwd.
also very aerodynamic, so a top end run is pointless for a wrx.
stock vs stock.
if its a vnt from a roll, wrx gets pulled hard at 1st.
those had 174hp/210tq but had ZERO lag!!

spdkillz,

why don't you just race him and prove him wrong? even stock vs stock, WRX will smack that daytona like a pimp right off the line.

Launch your wrx at 4.5 grand, all he will see is your rear lights.

When I had my 1986 GLHS Omni, my goal was to modify my car to be as quick as Dave Zelkowski's Dodge Omni.

Mopar Performance was much more owner-friendly than any Japanese manufacturer. Then and now, they've produced and sold CARB 50-state legal replacement ECUs for many of their vehicles. I ordered a 6-point SCCA-legal cage for my Omni, re-mapped ECU, hard suspension bushings, and Autometer boost gauge over the counter from a Dodge dealership, installed it, and they never once hasseled me about warranty work. The Mopar Performance catalog was full of everything from dress-up items for the engine, to a ported cylinder head for my Omni.

I wish Subaru was as enthusiastic - instead, I get a disclaimer that if I install the SPT muffler and (STi) suspension kit on my WRX, it will void the factory warranty. <sigh>
