I'm quite happy with my 2002 Outback Sport, pushing 40k miles and not too many issues, minus 1st gear shudder when cold and loud road noise at highway speeds.

I wanted to upgrade the sound system to levels where eardrums start to hurt, but wanted to do a clean job. I already upgraded the front panel speakers, needed to build spacers for that (PAIN), but I still feel the bass is lacking.

Does anyone know if the factory OEM subwoofer (the one that fits under the driver seat) works well? Otherwise, I was thinking about building two small boxes and placing them in the cargo area, tho I really hate taking up all that space. I've seen mods to put woofers in the body panels, but I pretty much want to keep an OEM look for the most part, and not cut door panels and such.

Anbody have any stories or experience they'd like to share?

PS. First gear shudder bothers me a lot, synth rear diff fluids did nothing for it. Now I just "double clutch" in the mornings. Annoying, but I think it's better for the clutch than starting at 3k rpm.
