Unreal Bad Transmission Story

So about two weeks ago I took my car into the dealership for an oil change and to have them check some "noises" for me. One noise was a whining noise and that turned out to be the rear diff. The other two weren't found UNITL IT BROKE.

First things first. The dealership really helped me out, so I can't complain about them. I only had to lay down $500.00 as a "deductable" to have them replace the rear diff, completely new and installed. Granted, that day sucked, but could have been a lot worse.

What was really bad, was only a week and half later. I was driving from my office to my warehouse (only 3 miles apart) and when I was sitting at a stop light, my clutch/transimission went. For those of you who don't know what this feels like, allow me to explain. When I went to shift into what used to be 1st gear, was now gone only to find a little post it note reading..."i'm sorry, 1st gear isn't here right now, please try again later..." When this happens, you feel like your shifter is just a stick swooshing around in a sock full of bolts with no structure at all.

This was the sputtering/clicking noise I heard that the dealership couldn't find. I had to drive back to the office only after 10 minutes of searching for a gear. The only one I could find was 2nd. Good old faithful 2nd. I drove back to the office and started with the phone calls. (dealership, performance shop, my fiance to let her know there was going to be a big withdrawl out of the wedding account...That one hurt the most).

All and all everyone was unbelievably helpful and my fiance understood. I'm guessing that everyone was so helpful because they knew how expensive this was going to be and just wanted their piece.

After all this, the dealership gave me an alternative. Bring in your car, will give you money for your car sight unseen, and come get a new 07 WRX.

I really thought this was too good to be true. But it wasn't. After all this mess, the dealership looked at my records, recognized I was a good customer, and did me right.

For those of you who have gotten to this point and bothered to read this, let this be a lesson. There are dealships out there, that will help. Even on a stage 2 modified 04 WRX with a wrecked transmission.

that sucks.

Should probably be careful of your driving until after the wedding. Mine would have **** a brick if I blew up my driveline before the wedding.

I got the new 07 in the nice blue color. I just can't have a car that has transmissions problems. Anything else I would have kept my 04.

That turned out rather well for you!

A stage 2 setup for the 07 seemed to be much more rewarding from 05 model and below.
