The manuals are mechanical the autos are electronic.

If you have an automatic you can install a 15 amp fuse and make it FWD. This is only for an automatic. In 97 the fuse holder is on the firewall in the back a small black box marked "FWD" on the right I think. You have to install a fuse to put it in FWD. Newer years the fuse holder is in the large fuse box by the battery. Again not for the Manual but a 4EAT

STP gas treatment, you would be suprised. buy it in bulk though so its cheaper.

Adding STP (which is like $30 a gallon) isn't cost effective. The only real way to do it is to open your exhaust up with a catback and maybe headers (which again, probably cost more than you will save on gas anytime soon) and to get larger wheels/tires than you have now. The danger there is the fact your speedo will be showing a SLOWER speed than you are actually traveling. The other upside is, your Odometer will track slower too.

Grounding mod will give you some torque.
You will need to press on the gas less.
not a whole lot of difference but it'll help.

also using cruise control will help if you have.
