Angry Trunk Lever = Crap

Half the time my trunk release lever doesn't work at all. The only way to get it to work is to open the trunk with the key first and then to close it. It just stops working again though. Yes, I have the valet switch in the correct position. Is there any fix that I can do myself or is this going to require yet another trip to the dealer? Thanks.

The problem is that the striker. The piece attached to the backside of the car (not the lid) is set too low.

See the thread on Impreza.net about it.

Just loosen two screws(just enough to slide the plate) an side it up just a little. Tighten the screws and your done.

I'm quite not sure what a trunkmonkey even is, so I guess I don't have one. Thanks though.

I really appreciate all the help. I noticed if I slam the trunk rather hard when closing it, the problem with the release lever seems to go away. We'll see how long that lasts though. I will attempt to adjust the latch if it starts happening again.
