Three annoying things about my wrx
This is the first winter I've had with my wrx. I've noticed three things that are somewhat disturbing (may or may not be weather related)
1) When I press in the clutch, I hear a faint squeak every time. When the radio is on, I can't hear it, but with the radio off, it can get a bit irritating. When I took it to the dealership, they said "all wrx's have this problem and there's nothing we can really do about it." They said they would check with Subaru to see if there were any reported fixes - they never called me back to let me know.
2) Sometimes (not all the time but even times when the car is warm), the car seems to shake when starting to move in first gear - no matter how much gas I apply to the clutch. I saw this in the forums before, but dismissed it because it wasn't happening to me - now it is and I'm looking for help.
3) I've never had a car or truck that fogs up the way this one does. And it seems to stay forever. Sometimes when I leave the car for a couple hours, there are actually moisture beads I can see on the inside of the front windsheild - I have to either wipe the window or wait for the defogger to evaporate it.
Does anyone have any of these problems? Any fixes, suggestions, etc. would be very much appreciated. Happy holidays!

It looks pretty straightforward but I didn't do it myself since the squeak in my clutch went away by itself over time.
-- I've forgotten what the fix for the clutch shudder was but I think there is one too. Fortunately my WRX doesn't suffer that one (though I've had other Scoobies that did).
--Ditto on not using re-circulated air, and it also helps to turn the A/C on.

Dont know about you guys, but on my rex turning on either of the front defroster settings automaticly turns on the AC. If you use the AC use recirculate, as it keeps on drying out the air it just dried out, IE even drier air lol.
About the whole clutch shudder. my 96 does the same thing, like it jerks when you start to go and so I took it in to the dealer and they told me that it was the pressure plate. You are supposed to have it switched out when you get a new clutch which I did back in March 2001, UNFORTUNATELY, the place that did my clutch didn't tell me this and left the old plate in...Now I gotta pay about $300.00 to get a new one!!! BASTARDS!

damn i have the 3 problems you mentioned too.......
i live in vancouver and it's kind of cold right now(but still above freezing)..... i have to warm the car a bit longer so i don't get that shaking when going with 1st gear......
As for the window fogging up, i have no idea why..... i just opened the windows a bit..........

I think that it has something to do with how the engine runs cold, ie. we all get used to our gas and clutch, and then really notice it when the cold engine wants MORE gas and LESS clutch before it gets warm, but then notice less when the engine warms and runs normally. When it's warm and you mis-clutch, it effectively seems the same (it is the same in a way).

3. Welcome to the world of a car with free-floating windows. Crank the fan to 4, put the heat all the way up, turn the defroster to "just defroster" and let the car run. Once the windshield warms up, the fogging goes away on mine. I had the same problem on my 95 impreza too. The water drops are wierd... never seen that. I make sure I DON'T have the air on recirculate, because that makes it take longer to defog. Also, have you tried one of those windshield treatments for fog? I had a hockey coach who used to make us put dishwashing soap on our eye-shields, and that seemed to work (until you got sweat and bubbles on it).
