suggestions

after years of being a jeep guy, I'm looking for a used car and stumble upon a 1996 legacy L wagon. It has the 2.2L, AT and looked to be optioned fairly well. It has 81k miles and the asking price is $4600 at the dealer. The salesman said he's having trouble moving it, as we are in southeast georgia - home of all hillbillies - so I think the price would be very negotiable.

My question is what to look out for on this vehicle? Are the motor & tranny solid on this model? any help would be appreciated,

Car Info: 2000 RS Coupe/1990 Mazda Protege, zoom zoom..

motor and trannie wise they are pretty solid, as long as it has been maintained maintained.

I would look for oil leaks at that mileage, front crank seals are very common accross the subaru line, as are valve cover gaskets, and the rear of the oil pans. All pretty easily fixed.

the timing belt should be changed if it has not already been done.

Car Info: 1995 Subaru Impreza 1.8 L

Make sure to fiddle with every single thing on the car and look at every body pannel on and under the car for any sorts of problems. Then test drive it, including some corners to see if anything is wrong with noises and such under cornering as well as acceleration and deceleration, and then decide

Roseville? I was just stationed in Fairfield, transferred to southern GA in June.

I drove the car & checked all of the obvious stuff, just looking for subaru ooolies and such. thanks for the suggestions.

Forgive my ignorance, but WTF is an "ooolie" ?
