don't forget oil, tires, maintenance, depreciation, insurance...etc...
the federal gov't just raised the allowable mileage billing rate to 48 cents per mile thanks to drastic gas price increases. Sooo....gdogg's actual cost to commute is closer to $15.36, almost three times what he is paying just for gas ($6.10).

I used about $200-$250 per month on gas before the prices went crazy.
I would say about $250-$300 per month now.
5 days out of the week I travel a little over 40 miles round trip.

I do 35 miles each way, 70 round trip, but I do 12 hr shifts, average 42/43 hours a week. Get about 22.5mpg from my 02 wrx wagon on average, gas price is about $2.60 for 91oct right now.. so doing the maths..
Peh, its about 30-35 a week..
Or..
I`d guess a little over $8 a day to travel..
Oh! and they charge us to PARK where I work! in their own parking lot.. thats another $15 a month.
from my house to college it's about 15-20 miles.
i get about 25 miles to the gallon last time i checked and yesterday i paid $3.21 a gallon for 91. i have to fill up once a week to the day usually.
im trying to conserve gas by driving in higher gears and negative boost.

Unfortunately, I cannot afford to teach and live in Hawaii...not when the Median prices of houses has risen to $650,000+!!!
actually yes I am an English teacher. It was a long week when I misspelled "great." Here in Ca. it isn't easy to afford new housing either. Guess that's why many teachers have "side jobs" in the Summer.
