That sounds right. Just curious... why are you asking?

From what I hear, the gear ratio on the 6th gear of an STi is actually lower than that of the 5th gear on a WRX.

Yes, the 6MT has gear ratios more closely spaced than the five gears in the 5MT. 6th gear on the freeway will result in higher engine revs than in a WRX in 5th gear at the same MPH, if the final drive ratio is the same 3.90 with the same overall wheel/tire diameter. Fuel economy and noise levels may be slightly worse as a result but nobody purchases an STi as an economy car.

Some cars (ahem, Corvette) have a sixth gear simply to avoid the gas guzzler tax and to make highway cruising more agreeable.

Newer TA's, in order to avoid gas guzzler tax, when shifting from 1st to 2nd will not allow you to shift into 2nd if the rpm's are too low. Pretty stupid. I used to have a 96 Mustang GT, at 70 mph in fifth the rpm's were at 1800. 2500 @ 80....and it still only got 160 mpt=13mpg
