Its about the dissapointment after dumping 30k on a car that he is going to have to dump lots more into it just like his old car.

May I add he his paying much higher insurance now too.

When you're spending enough money for a down payment on a home, consider taking the car on a test drive. This is not a case of Subaru mis-representing the STi.

You knew what your car was capable of. You must have read magazine test reports and reviews of the STi. Why did you then buy the STi?

After waiting for a long time for a Sti, it has arrived. I had not test drove one until today. I currently have a very modified 02' WRX which I put up for sale on the board this morning. I was not overly impressed with the Sti. The Sti has more low end torque and turns quicker, but my WRX could blow the stock Sti away BIG time. My car sits about 2" lower so I felt like I was very high up in the Sti also. The sti has more potential with modifcations, but I expected a little more...

How much including the cost of the vehicle have you spent on your 02'wrx? Is it more than the sti? Remember with the sti you have gotten(drivetrain wise) a completely different car. I am not biased, i have an 04'wrx. I wish i would have gotten the sti. I feel now that with the mods i have planned(huge list) it may have been cheaper to just get the sti and be happy with it (for a while!!! ). Also were you impressed with your wrx when you got it? Did you buy it new? It may seem like i am nosey but i am kind of curious about this issue. Need more input.

That's some snazy stuff, I wish I had more money so I could of gotten the STI, but o well I'm happy with my rex. My advice that I would give you is: If you have the money to spend for this car and have money to mod it also then go for it.

Well.. I look at it this way... A modded WRX may be faster than a stock STI, but the STI is tougher and will last longer. In your situation you paid for a more durable car. Now when you start modding the STI your at levels that would be VERY costly for the WRX.

doesn't STI = modded wrx

it's just a bargain the mods you get all in a package deal and factory built (at least not counting the dealer markup $7000 when I was shopping for an sti).

last time I saw an STI it still had a "WRX" badge on the trunk. its the SAME car people
