The prices of the OEM pads will come down as more are produced. Aftermarket pads can be had for under a hundred bucks per pair with arguably better performance to the OEM pads. Porterfield street compound STi pads are 80 for the front and 70 for the rear, race compound pads are 130 and 120.

Thats the same kind of thinking I encountered when I owned a Porsche. People (especially the dealership types) apparently thought that because I drove a Porshce I was made of money and wouldn't care, or that I had no common sense and wouldn't know I was being robbed.
Just because the part had a Porsche logo on it, the dealership tried to charge me 10 times what it was worth. So, I found an aftermarket parts supplier catalog, got the same bits for a lot less and the dealership got nothin'.
If the Subaru dealers think Sti owners are dumb enough to pay 380 dollars for brake pads, then I'd do the same thing again and get the aftermarket pads.
My willingness to buy a car like an Sti doesn't justify price gouging on anybody's part.

Those with the hating of the brake dust should get abestos brakes..those result in cooling(not that sure) and less brake dust..but it does require that u change those brake pads in a less amount of time then you would with ur stock brembo brake pads..
