STi, meet guardrail.... *pics
STi, meet guardrail.... *pics
Long story short- im driving out of a parking lot and hit a patch of ice rounding a corner. Completely sideways, I slide into a guardrail. Luckily I wasn't going too fast, and the rail gave a lot so the STi didn't get hurt... too badly.
- I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to replace the front fender - I was hoping to buy a part of a NASIOC member or a website and try to repair myself -but most likely I'm going to take it to a shop
Damage is mainly confined to that panel but I have superficial scratches on the back bumper and a little nick on the passenger door (not pictured)
How much should I be looking to pay for the scratches buffed out and a new fender? Should I try to do it myself? Also, if I purchase a new panel online or elsewhere - will I need to have it color matched? / will a WRB painted piece look out of place on a car with 22k on it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys.
PS> - I should mention that there is a considerable amount of dirt and snow on the panel below the fender - but no damage that I could see

Sorry to see that you wreaked your STI.
If you are going to drive your STI in ice/snow you should
make sure that your tires are up to the task and you
take caution driving in those conditions because when
you drive over ice the wrong way you will slide and lose control.
That damage can be fixed though.
I worked at a autobody shop before and my advice to you
is install and paint a brand new fender, sand, prep, and repaint
any scratched surfaces. You will probably have repaint your front
bumper cover I sure would. Also when the surface of the paint
isn't scratched but,you can see light scratch lines that means
most likey your clearcoat is scratched so,repaint! I would subjest
taking your car to a reputable autobody shop that knows what they
are doing and have worked on Subaru's before.

I feel your pain. I should be getting my car back any day now. But mine was not my fault. Some kid in an f-350 side swipped me, nearly missing my exhaust. I was pissed cuz I was like half way in front of him when he hit my rear driverside door, rear quarter panel, rear bumper, and driver side tail light assymbly.
Fighting the other drivers insurance company = 4hrs
Damage to the car = $3006
The feeling I get driving my Subaru = priceless
