Spied!!! 2008 Subaru WRX Prototype!
hold on a tick, car manufacturers have been known to disguise cars in attempt to reallly hide what's going on. The question is, does subaru test at this facility? Does VW use the same bolt pattern as subaru (they could be using rims that aren't there on a prototype) The scoop might still not be functional and could be a diversion.
There is not enough conclusive evidence that this car IS in fact the new impreza, especially when a Vw is following it.
As for subarus being ugly, I seem to recall everyone saying the GC8s had a face only a mother could love, and then complaints about the bugeyes, and then some complaints about the not so bugeyes, then the ugly airplaine inspired grille. Subarus have a history of being ugly cars that appeal to a certain crowd. If they turn their back on their origins to make a 'family friendly' car, then they might as well fold up and go home, they're going to alienate themselves from their existing customer base. That's not really smart business.

Since a VW is following it, is there any chance it MAY be an Turbo'd AWD hatch under the Audi badge? It does look A3-Q7ish. Perhaps Audi has plans to produce a turbo'd AWD hatch and is taking Subaru's design of a TMIC w/hoodscoop to heart?

So why would Subaru be testing a 2008 WRX in 2006 in California? I just dont get it. Also, how come the rims are the only thing blurry on the front or rear, depending on the way the car is facing? Looks like a photoshop to me.
One other thing I see is the little red reflectors on the bottom of the rear bumper that are the same as the ones on the 06 Mazda 3, with the same taillights.
I dont get it.

Honestly guys, that thing looks like a Toyota. The tail lights and trunk are a bite of the prius, and that front grill looks like a toyota.
Toyota and Dodge both are sporting hood scoops now.
I doubt that is a spied WRX.

I would agree if it wasnt for 2 things.
First off the wheels. Those are the stock 06 wrx wheels.
And second, the mirrors have a very clasic wrx shape.
One thing to note though, the emblem on the front looks closer to the GTi behind it than a subaru logo.

Meaculp : awesome pictures!
I guess Toyota had some say to the rearend. The taillights share the shape of the RX400. I like the grill on the WRC model.
