sohc or dohc?
personally i would think since the ej25 has more displacement people would be drooling over an ej25 instead of just an ej20. i mean dont get me wrong i love rex's, just i dont understnad why people like the sti equally as much.

the 2.0 has been around for years. It has a very good reliability at even high amounts of pressure. The 2.5 is a new motor. I'm sure with the greater displacement and the variable valving the aftermarket will embrace this motor.
Also remember, that in a turbo motor- it's not just the displacement, but the pumping efficiency that gives power.

are you talking about the ej20t and the ej25t? the wrx and sti motors, right? well FYI people prefer the wrx ej20t over the 2.5 rs/ts ej25 because the ej20 can handle much more boost and is built for a turbo. i dont but...some people may prefer the ej20t over the ej25t because it is...ehhh...more established and there are many tuners for it...the ej25 is new and the tuners are expereienceing knock over 350-400 hp...oh and ej20s are also DOHC...im sure as soon as tuners figure out how to get serious power outta the STi's ej25t...it'll be in the spot light..also derbagley is right in saying what he said ^^^^
the trouble is displacement makes for more power, less turbo lag etc. why do you think big motors such as ls1 engines and ls6 when twin turboed put out massive power and have virtually no lag, evidently due to the displacement. someone had already said the ej25t was dohc as well so why should that matter. isnt the same turbo being used for the ej20 and the ej25?

hey hey hey!!!! im sure there are some people who prefer the ej20 over the ej25...thats may change soon because the ej25 is proving itself as an amazing powerplant...kia0s to answer ur question people prefer the ej20(for now) over the 25 because it has proved itself already and there are many performance upgrades already out...once the ej25 stage 1 kit comes out from vishnu..that engine will probably take the spotlight...come on guys be nice!!!
the truth of the matter regarding this simple motor question is you are one who is biased towards believing that you are unique therfore causing you to quickly cause feelings of originality. in lamen's terms you think you know best because of a general statement. whatever you feel about this general statement you have just generalized everybody else.

The reason LS1s make a ton of power with turbos is that, well, they are huge gigantic engines compared to a 2.0 liter four banger. They have little lag, because they typical use smallish turbos relative to the displacement of the engine. There are a great many factors that go into the amount of lag, max power, and shape of the torque curve of a given engine. In a nutshell, these details are why a 350 horsepower turbo 4 cylinder can make a car much faster around a racetrack than a 1,000 hp twin turbo V8.

Whatever you say, kid.
