slap in the face!
slap in the face!
so i go into a subaru dealership nearby today. I did all my hw and all. the dealership offered me 22139 for a brand new 2003 wrx with 8 miles on it. It is definitely a do-able price. so i said i have a trade it and i told them ok i owe about 8000 on it. so the guy goes in talks to his manager. a bit later, the guy working the deal with me says ok 8800 + 8000 = 16800. im like wow in my mind thats a decent deal for my 2002 forester s-model for trade in. so i try to work it bringing the price of the wrx to 21,xxx, and he goes back to the manager and says "Oh, the price he was talking about was 8800 for just the car and we dont pay off the other 8000 you have finaced left" I'm like the blue book is worth at least 17,xxx. I was pissed after that and i just walked off. You know thats like just slapping me in the face! muthaf&*(#)!!!!
I just picked up my WRX from them but didn't have any problems like that. It took a bit to get them to give me a little equity in my trade in but nothing unusual. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

Tell them never mind that your not in any hurry to get screwed over. Then go to another dealership to check on pricing. Also if there is a Carmax near you go get a estimate on how much your cars worth. Then if Carmax is willing to give you what you want then sell them the Forester, pay off the old loan (really good for your credit) and take the remaining money to another dealer cause they are much more negotiable if you have cash in hand rather then a trade in. Cause a trade in will require that they then have to sell your old car.
