i'm from the UK and don't really know why you US folk name the Impreza manufactyred in 2003 the 2004?
I went with the flow and did not ask until now because I have to stick something onto a website and want to be accurate with what I am stating.
1) so why do you call it the 2004 ?
2) what year would you call the bug eye model?

I was wondering that same question myself. With the "bug -eye" model in japan was 01-03 in Europe I dont know what years it ran. And in America it is an 02-03 model. Good Luck

1)We call it the 04 because that is what subaru calls the non bug-eye model that we now get. it is the 2004 WRX and 2004 WRX STi. We did get a 03 version though which only sold untill about Juneish and was the buggeyes.
2) We call the buggeyes model the 02-03 WRX, RS, and TS. Japan and I belive Europe had this same model in 01 also but we did not.
Cheers

Maybe I'm off my rocker, but in my mind, the bugeye'd version is called the 'new age', and the '04 is called the version 8 (VIII).
Just throwing my unsubstantiated $.02 in.
