Should I buy an STI?
Hello there, im new the to fourm.
Im the owner of acura integra GSR right now and me and my wife are interested in an STI. I always try to look in to the car before i buy one, so thats why im here. Can anyone help, i was just wondering somethings out about how it rides, is it a gas guzzler?, are there problems the the STI have?, is it faster then the EVO?, anything u could tell will help in making our decision, thanks!

sti does suck up a bit of gas, but it would be something i could live with.
since you are on an impreza forum, most people will tell you the sti owns all. the evo has steering that is really meant for the track, so it can beat the sti, but in a straight line the sti has more power and should come out the winner. it is all about what you want out of the car. evo is a great car, but i thought mitsubishi was having major problems as a company.

The STi gets just under 20mpg depending on how you drive. A day at the track would probably get significantly less mileage. About which is faster, its really tough to say. Once you get on the track, I'd be willing to bet driver skill is more important then car specs.

On a racetrack, a bone stock STi isn't as fast as a bone stock Evo provided the driver is good enough to get close to the limits of both cars. Most of us can't do that, so it's kind of irrelevant. As a daily driven car, I think the STi is better. The build quality is better, the ride is better. I wouldn't knock you for getting the Evo though. Pick the one you simply like better. However, the i-Club community ownZ all, so take that into consideration.

STi is a great car, and faster than the evo (barley) in a strait line, but when top-gear did there track test (they used the evo mr and sti c spec ) the evo came out on top with like a 2 second faster track time.
The evo is just a beast at cornering and that non-sesne, wehere the sti is really good, but evo just has that little edge.
STi is a great car non-the less, i would probably pick one over the evo just because of the way it looks. That huge hood scoop, mmmmm

I used to have a WRX and recently traded that in for a new 05 STI, and it is an amazing car. You definately will love it and I can promise you would not regret the purchase of one.
The STI and the EVO look entireley different so I guess that would be up to you on which look you are going for.

You get be a real life Mad Max with the STI.
Have you looked at consumer reports and compared them at all?
Doesn't Subaru have a better reputation for their quality of cars?

I definetly agree with the EVO's looks compared to the STI's, STI owns. So the evo is faster then the sti, how is that, just cause of the motor differences? Are you guys saying that on the track the evo will beat the STI but on the street the STI will win? I have some more question, if u guys could please help.? What is the stock STI's turbo called? What upgrades are good for the STI that gain a good amount and free up the turbo? What is the stock boost at on the STI and if you were to up the boost what could it handle on a stock turbo? Thanks for repling the first time if u could help some more that would be great!

What do you want to do with your STi? If you just want a fast, fun, reliable car then no, you don't need to do much. Just the things we talked about there. Check out the list of stuff in my first post in the thread again.
