Shifting......

Im new to Suby's, so go easy on me...please. I just got my first Suby about 4 months ago. I looked in the manual, and noticed that for everyday driving. the shift point is from 2.5k rpm - 4k rpm.

Thing is, I just put in a Full piping JIC Exhaust, Blitz Air Filter system, SSQ BOV and SSQ System and also an Up-pipe - Downpipe.

When I shift at 3 rpm, it seems a little low in 2nd gear, like Im shifting way to early. But, Im not sure.

My car is a 2004 WRX Wagon. Any suggestions on when to shift. Im tryin to feel it out as of right now. Just don't want to damage my engine.

Thanks

My WRX is stock, but in normal driving conditions my 1 to 2 shift is usually at 3300 or so and at second it's at 2300.

3 rpms is VERY low

but seriously, just change your shift point to a higher rpm.

in the STi in normal driving i shift at ~3500 which drops it to ~2500. Not that that helps you in the 2 liter but you probably have enough torque at 2500 if you're not accelerating hard

I'll usually go really light with the throttle and shift right around 3K until a few minutes after the stock coolant temperature guage has reached it's normal position. Once the car is fully warmed up she usually goes to 3.75-5 grand in normal driving, with throttle application varying based on conditions. That's where the engine "feels" the best to me. With most of the vehicles I've owned, shifting in between the torque peak has felt the best.

Driving normal is driving with no worries.. . .don't ride the clutch and shift smooth. If you wanna save gas shift below 3Krpm. If you want drive normal as not being a pu**y, then shift a little higher. . . . . .

I would just shift at a higher rpm.

I think when you opened up the exhaust you lost some torque down low, which would make some sense to me anyway. That's just my guess.
