Saw 04 wrx at local dealer
So my bro and i stopped by a subaru dealer the other day and they just received a silver wrx sedan and like 2 wagons. oh my god is that thing nice lookin. the silver sedan had a spoiler, turbo gauge, short throw, sti stick ****, security system, and some other stuff and it costed 26800. that is expensive. the salesman or leech that came out told us that they are goin at sticker price but are giving out deals on the 03's. he said the only obvious changes on the 04 are the front and back lights(i didn't know the back ones have more emphasis now), seats are different, and the turbo gauge is placed on the left side of the steering column. i'm guessing it's because the tach is in the middle and the speedo is on the right and it would have blocked the speedo if it was on the right. hopefully i'll get a deal on the 04 in one year exactly.

Bought a 2004 WRX
I got my new 2004 WRX May 5. It was pretty loaded. Prem sound, short shifter, boost gauge, ti shifter, wing, arm rest and so on. Paid about 27K, but "supposedly" got 2K off. Seems like the got it back by a lower trade allowance.
The car is beautiful, drives great, tight, solid, quality. I got manual trans. Am used to automatic. Gets tiring in very heavy stop and go. But usually great fun. But, I am past 60 years. Everyone seems to get reved up and hast to race past me
Cheers

I think the trick is, to find financing ahead of time, like peoplefirst.com. Find the one you want then let the dealer know you are ready to buy it today.
I used the locate dealer thing at subaru.com. then check inventories till I found a black 04 manual premium. I found one 130 miles away. I called the dealer in the morning, made sure it was the one I wanted, then asked him if he wanted to sell it today. He said 'sure'. I named a price, he came back a couple of hundred higher, his prices was good. So I told him to fax me the contract, signed it and sent it back, then drove down in the afternoon and took delivery.
If the dealer knows you are ready to buy today, and that you can call another dealer if his price isn't right, he'll lower the price enough to make the sale.
I also found it's much easier to negotiate over the phone. the dealer I spoke with in town gave me the whole 'I gotta feed my family' line. I'm really sorry that his kids are gonna go hungary now that I bought it from a different dealer.

also you have to realize...dealers arent going to make their money on selling cars. no true dealers make cash that way. dealers make their cash by doing routine maintenance and having a bodyshop for their customers cars. hell, the more people they sell to, the more business they'll have when their cars break down/need repairs.
you have to find the right dealer tho. some are out to sell only afew cars at top dollar, while others (the smart ones) sell them only alittle over their cost, so that they have a huge customer base and those customers come to them to get routine maintenance and repairs.
