Roadside sniffer Redwood city CA

11/6 its 10:45 am and a CHP is pulling cars over for a roadside inspection on Woodside Rd. in Redwood City, CA.
They have a lift and a sniffer with an officer ready to give out tickets.
I have heard of this, but have never seen in till now.

^ Wow, why no pictars?

on a side note of other things CHP does, What on earth are they trying to do when they have their sirens on and they are swerving across 3 lanes? Are they trying to slow down the flow of traffic? Or do they find it amusing to confuse the fk outta drivers?

If they're going across all of the lane they are trying to spread the traffic out and stop people from cluster ****ing each other, or there is a major blockage further down the freeway and they're trying to slow people down.

It's called a traffic break. They stop traffic completely. Usually to remove some sort of debris from the road...

I have seen them do that swerve across all lanes when:

Caltrans is moving the chain control point up or down the mountain.

Police pursuit that goes on the highway

Road debris

Accidents

Incredibly large or delicate loads that are being hauled. (Seen this for a few HUGE I-beams before)
