Reasons to buy a 2.5 over a WRX

I chose a 2.5 RS for the following:
1.) Initial cost difference
2.) Insurance cost
3.) Gas cost (I commute ~100 miles a day)
4.) I'm buying a house in the next year to year and a half
5.) Excellent low-end grunt
I won't hesitate to say the WRX is a superior vehicle, but the RS is an excellent car, and if you're mod-happy, there's a wider selection available for the WRX, and you can get more power for the same money. I'm thinking an STi might be in my future a few years down the road (and when I have a garage to put it in).

2.5rs
I admit I would have loved to buy a WRX, but I traded my Black 97 Legacy GT for a Blue Ridge Pearl RS. I Love that color!! Also I liked the interior better in the RS- black as opposed to black/blue. I test drove both cars and just liked the RS much better. Price had nothing to do with it. I have lowered it and done some interior stuff such as getting an MP3 player and an STI steering wheel . To most people it looks like a WRX so whatever. If I ever have the need to go really fast I just jump into my 02 Maxima!

i got my '03 2.5 for insurance reasons, the car price had nothing to do with it.
but to get technical about it, a turbo'd 2.5 would produce better #s than a WRX.. but then again you got the STi about to come out. so bascially, you'll always be obscelete no matter what you buy.
i have big plans for my 2.5, since the insurance company doesn't need to know what i do under my hood.
but all in all, i'm incredibly happy with my purchase. although i'd have loved to own a WRX, insurance would have killed me. and considering i'm only 18, i think a brand new 2.5 isn't half bad.

I have an 02 RS... decided not to spend the extra cash for the WRX. The RS is a blast and I love it. If I truly try to drive fast in a straight line I can tell it's no WRX but while going around corners, it's awesome. And in fact, while not so much try with the New Agers, the older RS can usually do better than a WRX around slow twisties (less weight, more low-end torque).
I'd test drive an RS. If you're happy with it, save the money. Can't go wrong either way! Oh, also save money on gas right now
