I'm new to driving a turbocharged vehicle, and now that I've finally stacked up over 1K on the odo, I can now wind it up a bit. A couple questions have popped up, the rex, btw is very fast ... I do have to watch myself, now

1) Is there any way, if at all to hold boost between shifts on a stock WRX?

2) Does anyone know what triggers the wastegate? There have been occasions where the boost just drops to negative very quickly, but usually when I am nearing the speed I want to be at and I back off the throttle a bit..

This is mostly just curiosity. When really getting her wound up, the turbo screams, it almost sounds like a jet engine. The sound of that turbo winding up is just too tempting, sometimes, not only that, but just the sheer exceleration

Funny, I don't miss the miata a bit

 

Unless you're really short, like me, miata is difficult to squeeze into. I swear the car must have been built for anyone 5'6 and under.

BTW, something that was talked about alot on the miata forums, was something of a flashing lights/honking/ waving that would happen from time to time. w/ the miata, only rarely so, but with the WRX, I get people waving or honking all the time in other WRXes... it's kinda cool I feel like I'm a member of a somewhat exclusive group!
