piecing together my performance add-ons or should i seriously consider the Vishnu Stage 1 package.
What do you intend to do with the car? Drags, autocross, rallying?

Unless you are versed in tuning cars, or are willing to research the subject on WRX mods, you would do well to consider Vishnu Stage packages (or other tuner packages).

If you go the Vishnu route, consider following their recommendation of starting with either the Stage Sub-Zero or Zero packages, then upgrading to the next level after you have driven the car to see what the changes have accomplished. IMO, Vishnu Stage series are a well thought out, progressive method of increasing engine performance.

Check out posts in the 'Performance | Factory Turbo' forum. This is actually a better place for questions such as yours. Factory Turbo and Engine Management cover topics such as vendor comparisons and performance, as well as firsthand experiences with things like ECU re-mapping by companies like Vishnu. The latter is referred to in forums as EcuTek, the software/hardware that is licensed by Vishnu and other vendors to perform re-mapping (re-flash) of the Subaru WRX ECU.

I have no experience with Turbo XS, only Vishnu, so far. I had a Vishnu-recommended installer put a Stage Sub-Zero in my WRX. This is a different Sub-Zero than what is currently listed at Vishnu's site. The new one is better, IMO, because it is easily user-installed in minutes. In any case, I'm happy with mine but will probably go with the ECU re-map in the near future. My goal is improved torque and mid-13 second quarter mile E.T.s.
