Performance differences between sedan/wagon?
Are there any performance differences between the wagon and the sedan wrx (i.e. do they run the same suspension, 0 to 60 times, and weight)? Is there anything I should know about that makes the wagon any less of a sports car than the sedan? I'm really beginning to like the wagon, but do not want to sacrifice performance by choosing to go that route. Plus it's more of a sleeper and attracts less attention.
Thanks,
Chris

Slightly more weight, and the suspension to deal with it (and make it act like the sedan). There is a little more rear body roll, which can be eliminated with a rear strut tower brace.
Neither car is exceptionally aerodynamic, so that shouldn't be an issue.
The wagon is awesome. As fast as a WRX, but looks better and holds more stuff
I say do it!

I got the wagon and the only bad thing is it's harder to get suspension parts. You can't do a straight STI swap into a wagon.
But other that that I love my wagon.

Everything the other two said is exactly right. I went from an 02 sedan to an 05 wagon, and I'm loving every minute of it. I don't have any regrets trading the sedan for the wagon. The wagon doen't turn in quite as sharp (it has a smaller rear sway bar) and is just less nimble than the sedan (but not by much). Acceleration performance is right there with the sedan (it's only 80 pounds heavier). I say go for the wagon. The only thing I don't like is the wagon doesn't have the aggressive fender flares that the sedan does. But that's minor compared to all the other good things that go with it (particularly cargo space).

I just got a new WRX wagon on Jan 2. I love it so far. even though my wife uses it as her daily driver. but I have ridden in an STI a few times, so the WRX already feels slow.
I may some day do some mods on the wagon, but for now it stays stock..(warranty)

I am also a wagon owner. Love it! Plenty of mods out there for the wagon suspension wise. And all the engine and powerstuff is the same. Oh and you can fit a whole set of wheels with tires in the back cargo area without putting the seats down. Can't do that in the sedan.

Get a wagon. The front suspension is a little different and the weight is different so you need wagon specific front sway bar, sway bar links, and arms if you want to replace these. Oem and aftermarket springs (and struts, I'm not sure) will fit both the sedan and wagon, but the wagon specific parts are needed to get the correct hiegth, damping and spring rate. The best mod for the buck is replace the wagon rear sway bar with an oem one from a sedan of the same year. People who upgrade their sedan swaybars often give them away for free. The sedan rear swaybar is stiffer (the sedan front swaybar will not fit the wagon).
If you like the appearance of the wagon, I'd go for it. I have a sedan and I have autocrossed both my sedan and a friend's wagon. The difference between them isn't worth worrying about - particularly when ranked against tire choice, some aftermarket shocks or whatever takes your fancy.

The wagon is only around 80 lbs heavier, holds way more, and has more headroom. You can even load 6 foot long boards behind the passenger seat, or 8 foot long 2x4s between the front seats if you are a handyman. I bought the crossbar kit for the roof rails, and can throw a bike, wood, or deer carcass up there if I like. =)
Performance-wise, the sedan is slightly more nimble, but road and track did a quicker run in the wagon than the sedan on twisties due to the 215-45-17s.
The only way I'd have not bought my wrx wagon is if they made a 2 door hatch version of the wrx...
