I've seen several examples of the bug eye housings painted black. For those of you that have done it, how hard was it? What kind of paint did you use? How many coats? How long did it take? Feel free to post any pics as well.

couple hours, two coats and easy as cake. make sure you use extra silicone just in case. hardest part was pulling the two halfs apart. there are plenty of "walk throughs" on this subject at www.scoobymods.com
