Exclamation Now why would you do that?

Olright now that i've got your attention I have a question. Why do people spend so much money modifying the outside of their suby like body kits, lights, neon, roof scoops, and **** like that? Dont they know that modding the exterior of their car doesn't make it go any faster? In plus the cops will be even farther up your ***. I mean come on I can understand if someone has alot of money or if it's just a lip and wheels but stuff like carbon fiber is way over rated.

Please post comments I'd like to see where other people stand on the subject.

Thanks for your time.

Roof vents are actually very nice when your at the track since you dont want to turn on your AC and lose all of the power, but you dont see alot of roof scoops or flappers. And the only lights I see are fog lights, which are for visibility purposes. Any other light should be burned.

Some people just like to stand out, even if it means being a "ricer."

Not everything in life is about how fast you can go or how hard you can corner. We have eyes, and we like to look at beautiful things. People buy clothes and makeup to make themselves beautiful, theu buy furniture, art and knicknacks to make their home beautiful--why should one's car be exempt?

Edit: I'm not saying every dress-up or body piece is beautiful--Some people don't know how to put makeup on; some people don't know how to dress up a car either.

Neon wise, some people just do it for the hell of it.

A local guy (SVC here, and most places) has more bling on his silver wagon than youz could ever belive. He has neon below, neon in the hoodscoop, neon inside, and neon in the grill. Hell, he even has 300 x-mas lights right now inside his car! But, of course, it is done mostly as a joke.

i agree with lachlan 100%, not eveyrone is going to race their cars, because street racing is stupid and track/autocrosses costs money, so why would one need to put everything in performance? looks is so important to some people, and like lachlan says, its nice to see beautiful things. now i know a lot of these "ricers" like to street race and junk, but their so called "races" are also for show! do u get the point? i myself would love to see some clean cars, lips, wheels, and maybe a subtle wing, and on the subject of wings, if big wings were not the norm, then the stock skyline, supra, evo, and sti wings should not be standard? i think not, wings look nice ..just not on civics, i know.

I think the roof scoop is cool. It's a functional mod, which I like.

Other stuff like body kits I don't really go for. I can see upgrading your headlights, if done so tastefully. Neons and stuff can burn in hell.

Very well said. As a woman, I know that I am much more attracted to a nice looking car rather than one that goes really, really fast. I think this is something that applies to a lot of other women as well. So, although it is nice to have great performance, having classy exterior modifications can add to the aesthetic beauty of the car. I think both looks and performance are equally important.

I think that past a certain point, everything becomes rice. What is rice for one person might be functional for another.

PS: Imprezer, did you get my PM a while ago?

People do certain things because it gives them pleasure.
If everyone did the same thing this planet would be very boring.
Your car is like your wee-wee, you paid for it so touch it as much as you like!
